Pastor Terrence

Hey! I’m Pastor T (Terrence Brooks), born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. By God’s grace, my athletic talents earned me a basketball scholarship to Huston-Tillotson University (and yes, 60 lbs ago, I actually looked like a basketball player!). It was in college that I met God and literally, in one day, my entire world flipped upside down. (I’ll share more when we meet!)

After that experience, I knew I couldn’t do anything but help others get to know the God who transformed my life. So, after college, I moved to Dallas, Texas, to pursue a Master of Theology (Th.M.) at Dallas Theological Seminary. While in Dallas, God decided to bless me even more—I reconnected with my high school sweetheart, Javanne, and in 2010, we finally got married, just as we had planned back in high school.

In 2014, we moved back to California to plant New Wine Community Church in Long Beach. And they say having a child changes everything—well, in March of 2020 (after nine years of trying and right in the middle of COVID), the Lord blessed us with our sweet baby girl, Tóvah Trú, and our world completely changed! Just five months later, I was given the privilege of merging five churches together to form ONE Church Lakewood.
