As believers, a huge part of our Trinitarian identity is living as servants. Jesus Himself came not to be served but to serve others. If you have followed Jesus and joined ONE Church, your next step is to move from being a consumer to being a contributor by joining one of our serve teams.

“We will never change the world by going to church. We will only change the world by being the church.”

We have serve teams for all skill sets and all walks of life. If you’re a missionary here at ONE Church, your next step is joining a serve team.

GOING PUBLIC WITH YOUR FAITH


Once you’ve made the decision to follow Jesus, your next step is baptism. Baptism is a public declaration of your commitment to follow Jesus. It shows that you not only believe that Jesus died and resurrected, but that you have joined Jesus in His death and resurrection. You’re dying to yourself, sin, Satan and his ways and allowing the Holy Spirit to fill you and live in and through you for the rest of your life. It’s not about living for Jesus but allowing Him to come and live in and through you! (The breaking of the water is like the womb of God and once you come out of the water you’re a new creation, a new child or…born again )

Let’s be clear…Following Jesus isn’t about finding religion!

RELIGION EMPHASIZES RULES AND RITUALS. JESUS IS DIFFERENT. JESUS SEES RELIGION AS AN OBSTACLE THAT KEEPS PEOPLE FROM GOD. RELIGION TAKES WHAT GOD INTENDED TO BE INCREDIBLY SIMPLE AND CLEAR AND MAKES IT MESSY AND COMPLICATED.

Jesus didn’t come to begin a religion. He came to offer people a personal relationship with God. The message of Jesus was clear — God loved the world so much that He sent His son into the world to save the world from sin. He did this by dying on the cross for our sins. He took our place so that after his resurrection we could be right with God.

Religion offers an invitation to behave. Jesus offers only one invitation — believe.

The first step in following Jesus is believing!

Believing that you are broken and sinful and that this world is too! Believing that there is nothing you can do to fix yourself or this world. Believing that God didn’t make the world this way and that He wants to fix it. Believing that Jesus is the only hope for the world. That He is the way, the truth, and the life and that everything we need and long for is found in Jesus and Him alone.

That’s why God doesn’t want us to be religious, He wants us to be real! Real about life, real about who we are and where we are in life. If we’re honest and real about these things with God then we will meet and experience God in a real way.

Motivation is based on fear and insecurity Motivation is based on grateful joy
My self view changes depending on whether or not I live standards. If and when I do live up to my standards, I become proud and judgmental towards those who are struggling. If and when I am not living up to my standards, I feel insecure, inadequate, and not confident. I feel like a failure. My self-view is not based on my moral achievement. In Christ, I am simultaneously sinful and lost, yet accepted in Christ. I am so sinful that He had to die for me, and so loved that He was glad to die for me. This leads me to deep humility and confidence at the same time.
My identity and self-worth are based mainly on how hard I work, or how moral I am – and so I must look down on those I perceive as lazy or immoral. I disdain and feel superior to others. My identity and self-worth are centered on the one who died for me. I am saved by sheer grace and I can’t look down on those who believe or practice something different from me. Only by grace am I what I am.

Do you believe?

That you are a sinner? That punishment is all you deserve? That there is nothing you can do? That Jesus died for your sins?

Discipleship College

In our Discipleship College we aim to equip every missionary with the foundational understanding and practice of knowing Christ and making Him known together.

Our Discipleship College is a part of our discipleship process where we equip the saints to participate in the process of the church moving toward maturity (Eph. 4:11-13), so that we can become the church Jesus died to create (Eph. 5:25-27).  Our emphasis is that it takes every member of the body operating according to the grace of Christ to see this happen (Eph. 4:16). 
 
Discipleship College is divided into two different 6 month sessions that gather once per month in a cohort and interactive setting.  DC101 will cover our spiritual formation process beginning with spiritual disciplines.  DC201 will move into spiritual warfare and spiritual gifts.  
 
Upon completion of the Missionary Class, missionaries will move into discipleship college 101.  If you have completed the missionary class register for Discipleship College 101.  If you have completed DC101, please register for DC201.

Missionary Class

We don’t have members we have missionaries.

Members are those who belong to a group with special rights and privileges. (Like Costco members) Missionaries are those who feel called by God, not just to this congregation, but who feel a sense of ownership of/for the mission and vision of the church. They feel called to use their gifts, talents, skills and whatever other resources Gods given them to help advance the kingdom. They also feel safe and confident in the leadership God has placed in this congregation and they are willing to submit themselves to their authority and the direction Gods provided for this church.

NOT SURE YOU’RE READY TO BE A MISSIONARY!

That’s ok, you don’t have to be fully committed to attend the class. This class explains what being a missionary is all about. You’ll get a chance to go behind the scenes and discover what really drives this church and what you can expect if you join. You’ll also get a chance to ask questions and get a better understanding of what’s being asked of you.
